Only people arriving in ACT from South Australia are required to stay at home from 11:59 tonight.
This was announced by the ACT today in response to ongoing COVID-19 outbreak being experienced in South Australia which precipitated the extension of the lockdown by a further seven days.
The order shall be in force until 11:59 pm on Tuesday 27 July.
Meanwhile Non-ACT residents will require an approved exemption to enter the Territory from both states.
“Exemptions will only be granted for extraordinary circumstances, and even if an exemption is approved, you will still be required to follow the stay-at-home order in the ACT,” said Rachel Steven-Smith, ACT Health today.
Continues Steven-Smith:“All Canberrans should minimise their interstate travel at this time and be prepared to reconsider their plans at short notice.”
She added:“Canberrans should not be travelling to any areas subject to quarantine or stay-at-home requirements.”
The Minister also revealed that those under stay at home orders can only go out to do essential work, shop for essentials or medicals and must wear masks as well.
The ACT recorded no new cases of COVID-19 today. Both Victoria and South Australia closed their borders to travellers from ACT much to the shock of the Chief Minister Andrew Barr who felt that the measure was unnecessary as the Territory had not registered any COVID-19 case.
