The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has warned that severe and damaging winds might attack south eastern NSW and ACT today.
The BOM’s weather warning revealed that the hostile winds averaging 60-70km/h, with peak gusts above 90km/h around the southern parts of the ACT as well as the Snowy Mountains, eastern parts of Southern Tablelands, Central Tablelands and parts of the Illawarra and South Coast. The winds are expected to ease tonight.
Wind speed is expected to peak to 125km/h this evening in Alpine areas which are above 1,900m.
The ACT is predicted to reach a top of 12°C today, with a 95% chance of rain.
Blizzard conditions were expected for this morning in the alpine areas of NSW above 1,600m, which will mean more snow for the Snowy Mountains’ ski fields after days of snowfall.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has recommended back country travel be postponed until conditions improve.
Sheep graziers have also been warned of cold temperatures, heavy rain and shows and strong winds today, affecting the Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and ACT regions.
